It has long been believed about cats that they walk on their own. Meanwhile, many owners of thoroughbred animals do not want to let their pets go out into the street unattended and prefer to walk them on a leash like dogs. The leash must be properly fastened, otherwise the cat simply will not want to walk.

It is necessary

  • - harness;
  • - leash;
  • - a cat.

Instructions

Step 1

Do not use a collar for walking with your cat. First, your pet won't like it. And secondly, the cat will perfectly slip out of it, since it will never do what it does not like. So buy a harness. Cat harnesses are similar to those worn on small dogs. In pet stores, they come in all varieties and types, so you can always find the right one. Use the harness even for walking with large breed cats.

Step 2

Put the harness on the animal. It is better to do this at home, not yet going for a walk. The cat must get used to the new environment. An ordinary harness is a ring and several belts. A carabiner is attached to the ring. The ring size is adjustable. Put it on your pet's neck and turn so that the carabiner is on her withers. Then the jumper connecting the collar with the strap that wraps around the body will be on the chest. Adjust the length of the jumper.

Step 3

Insert the cat's right paw into the space between the collar and the “belt”. The "belt" should cover the chest of the animal. Clip it under your left front leg. Unfold all straps. They must not be twisted. Examine the collar so that it does not constrict the throat, but at the same time, it is not too spacious.

Step 4

Before attaching the leash, let the cat walk around the room in a harness. It is possible that she will try to remove an object that is unusual for her. Let the animal get used to the new state. If the cat is too nervous, try to keep her busy. You can, for example, play with her or pick her up and stroke her. Put on the leash only when the animal learns to walk calmly in the harness. This can happen in a few days, so wear the harness often.

Step 5

When you see that the cat is used to a new object, put on a leash. As a rule, the leashes are attached to a small carabiner that fits into the ring. Carabiners come in different designs. For attaching the leash, conventional animal carabiners are usually used. It has a swivel that prevents the leash from twisting. Other types of carbines can also be used. In any case, make sure that it is firmly fixed.
