If this is the first time a parrot is at your home (for example, you just bought it or was presented to you as a gift), then you need to give it time to calm down, get used to it and get comfortable in the room. This can last from one to two weeks.
Step 2
First, check the degree of tameness of the bird, it is quite simple to do - put your hand in the cage, if the parrot twitches and backs away, it means that he is afraid of your hands and taming will take much longer. If he reacts calmly and even begins to reach for his hand, then consider that half the battle is done.
Step 3
Try to spoon feed your parrot with your hand or finger. At the same time, it is important to talk to him. Over time, the chick will get used to your hand and will sit on it.
Step 4
After it sits on your finger one day, try very slowly and carefully to lift it out of the cage. Walk around the room and use the same care to return the parrot to its place.
Step 5
Gradually increase the distance and time of your walks. Try to bring the bird closer to your face more often. Soon the chick will want to sit on your head or shoulder. You need to be careful and kind.
Step 6
If a parrot has landed on a high cabinet or curtain, then in no case drive it away with a stick or a mop, you will frighten the bird, and it will forever lose confidence in you. Standing on a chair, gently bring your finger under the chick so that it goes over to it.
