The owners love their pets by everyone. But, if the exterior is not important for the yard dog, then purebred dogs need to exactly meet the breed standards. For example, a light tan color on a toy terrier can completely destroy all the hopes of its owner to win the competition.

Instructions

Step 1

Baby terriers have dogs in their ancestors that bravely fight rats a little smaller than themselves. And they inherited all the distinctive features and character traits of these ancestors. They are energetic, self-confident, courageous and reckless creatures, getting along well with children and older people. But they choose only one family member as their leader. Toy terriers are born hunters, they will pursue their goal to the end.

Step 2

After the inhuman rat extermination competition was banned, terriers had other tasks. Now they are companion dogs, toy dogs. From this arose the name. Therefore, breeders began to carry out work to reduce the breed, achieving similarities with a toy dog. According to the standards, the weight of the Russian toy terrier cannot exceed 3 kg, and the height is no more than 20-28 cm, while the English toy terriers, whose breeding in Russia stopped for political reasons, were about a kilogram heavier and a couple of cm higher.

Step 3

There are smooth-haired and long-haired toy terriers. In the former, the hair is close to the body, it is short, and does not have bald patches. Toy terriers have no undercoat, so they do not shed. In healthy individuals, the coat is shiny. In the latter, the length of the coat is about 3-5 cm, and the coat can be either straight or wavy. On the paws, the hair covers the claws. The color is deep brown-tan, bluish-tan, black and tan; feathers of light color are unacceptable by standards. Blue, black or brown color without markings or when the markings are too large are unacceptable. The coat requires daily ironing and brushing.

Step 4

The eyes, according to the standard, should be large, rounded and somewhat protruding, usually of a dark color. The eyelids are usually of the same color as the coat. The ears are large, in short-haired dogs, erect, in long-haired dogs they can be hanging. The shape of the ears of toy terriers is sometimes called "candle flame" for their external resemblance. The head is wedge-shaped with a fairly high and convex skull. The muzzle is pointed, with a heart. If the muzzle is blunt in front, this can be attributed to the faults of the animal. A direct bite is also not allowed, only a scissor bite. The tail is usually docked, but an uncropped tail is permitted by standards.

Step 5

The Russian Toy Terrier as a breed has the status of "conditionally recognized". These dogs can receive final recognition only in 2016, when the ten-year period established by the FCI breeding commission expires.
