Sometimes it becomes necessary to provide emergency assistance to the cat, and it is not always possible to deliver the animal to the veterinarian. In this case, you can help your pet yourself. It is important not to miss the moment when the paw swells 2 times, and not to bring the usual scratches and bites, which quickly heal after iodine treatment, to gangrene. Ichthyol ointment does not help in such cases, and this is the case when the cat refuses to eat and drinks a lot. Then it is better not to waste a minute, because the cat can burn out from the temperature in just a day.

Instructions

Step 1

Use a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol on the wound on your paw.

Step 2

With a regular syringe for 2.5 cubes, suck the pus from the wound. The abscess itself (abscess) on the paw is absolutely insensitive, so the paw does not need to be injected with novocaine. A regular syringe sucks out pus better than an insulin syringe.

Step 3

Make an incision with a 0.5 cm scalpel (or a small new utility knife) in the abscess. At the same time, the cat does not feel anything and absolutely does not escape, although it is desirable that someone would hold the animal by the withers and hind legs.

Step 4

Blot the pus with cotton wool and fill it with hydrogen peroxide and chlorhexidine.

Step 5

Collect Levomekol ointment with an ordinary syringe for 2.5 cubes (without a needle) and inject it into the wound cavity.

Step 6

Apply a cotton swab, tie with a bandage and put a self-fixing bandage on top. Make sure that the animal holds the bandage for at least 1 hour.

Step 7

Wipe the area of the withers with alcohol (menovazin), pulling the scruff out and inject 0.5 cubic meters of the antibiotic amoxicillin with an insulin syringe, having previously expelled all excess air from the syringe. To do this, put the syringe with the needle up, tap on the syringe and wait until the air has left and the liquid flows.

If you prick not with an insulin, but with an ordinary syringe, then the cat will be very painful, he will break loose, scream and bite.

If the injection site is not treated with alcohol, it may fester.

If you do not expel air from the syringe, a bruise will develop.

If you do not pull back the scruff, you can hurt the muscle and the cat will be very painful.

This injection is perhaps the most painful part of the procedure, if all conditions are not met.

Step 8

After 48 hours, inject 0.5 more cubes of amoxicillin.

Step 9

Dress the wound once a day: treat with chlorhexidine and smear the wound area with levomekol and bandage. Do not treat with hydrogen peroxide, but with iodine you can wipe it for 2-3 days. On day 4, the wound will heal completely.
