Camels are longtime desert dwellers. In addition, this is the very first animal that man has tamed. The Egyptians were the first to use camels for their own purposes several thousand years ago. Despite its awkward appearance, the camel is usually called the king of the desert. And this is understandable.
Firstly, the camel is the only animal that can feel great in the desert. Any other living creature would die, being in the hot air all day long without food or water. A camel may not eat or drink for several days in a row. This is due to the fact that while traveling, he feeds on the reserves deposited in his hump. The animal's lips are very hard, which allows it to easily feed on the huge thorns that grow here and there in the deserts. A few days before setting off, the camel eats a lot and drinks a lot. At this time, his hump is actively growing and can reach up to fifty kilograms. When the animal is on the way, its hump gradually decreases, and at the end of the entire journey, it sags completely. In addition, the camel has small folds on its belly, in which water accumulates. That is why the animal can calmly walk for several days until the next source of water, while not feeling thirsty at all. Secondly, it is the most patient and hardy animal. A camel can walk for a long time without stopping, while carrying a considerable load. His legs are designed so that he can stand on the hot sand without feeling pain at all when everything else just dies. Camels do not experience aggression towards people. They are especially kind with children, so they constantly spin around them, trying to climb on their backs and ride. These animals feel like real masters and therefore will not offend anyone first, but in case of danger they will be able to stand up for themselves. In addition to all this, very often the camel is compared to a “ship of the desert”. This is due to the fact that the dunes, when they roll smoothly, resemble the waves of the sea, along which this majestic animal moves with a confident step, like a ship in the sea. They are not afraid of sandstorms, heat, or huge distances.
