Bird feeders can be made from different materials. It is absolutely not difficult to make such a simple design with your own hands. The main thing is to ensure that the product is neat and safe for birds during the manufacturing process. Of course, it is very good if the feeder is also some kind of unusual. In this case, it will be able to serve, among other things, as a decoration of the yard. So what can you make original bird feeders from?
Of course, such a product can be made from commercially available materials. But usually feeders are still made from improvised means.
Original cup bird feeder
In every house, probably, there are old, no longer needed glasses and saucers. Instead of throwing out such dishes, you can use them to make an original beautiful feeder. In this case, the technology for assembling a "dinner table" for birds will look something like this:
- the bottom of a clean saucer is thickly coated with liquid nails;
- put the cup on the glue with the handle up;
- wait until liquid nails dry;
- cut off three pieces of twine 60 cm long;
- weave a pigtail out of them;
- tie a pigtail on the handle of the cup in the middle.
Next, you just need to tie the made feeder to the tree branch by the pigtail and pour the grain into the cup.
What else to make a bird feeder: use a mayonnaise bucket
From such an improvised material, you can easily make a beautiful original bird feeder. To do this, you must first divide the bucket into three equal parts with lines. This can be done simply by eye. Further, in each part of the bucket, doors should be drawn at a distance of about 3 cm from the bottom. To make the feeder look like a teremok, the doors are best made curly - with an arch at the top.
It is not necessary to completely cut the doors in the trough. Only the bottom, the top and the line between the flaps should be cut. Next, the flaps just need to be gently bent. To make the feeder beautiful, you can paint on it, for example, snowflakes, stars and all sorts of winter patterns with some kind of paint intended for outdoor use.
Feeder for the lazy
It is not difficult to make a beautiful original bird feeder in this way. But this product, of course, should also be easy to use. Any feeder from time to time has to be filled with grain, seeds or bread. And if the owners of the house suddenly forget to do this, the birds, unfortunately, will remain hungry.
Meanwhile, if you wish, you can easily make a special hopper feeder, from which food will be fed to the birds automatically. The easiest way to make such a product is from a plastic bottle and cardboard. A through sleeve with a diameter of about 10 cm should first be made from the cardboard.
Further, in the bottle, you need to cut holes on both sides along the diameter of the sleeve at a distance of 3-4 cm from the bottom. Then you should insert the sleeve into the holes, having previously cut a slot about a centimeter wide in it along the length. Place the sleeve in the bottle in such a way that the slot is directed towards the bottom.
To make it more convenient for the birds to peck at the food, you need to glue to the bottom of the bottle parallel to the sleeve, for example, a Chinese stick (on which they will sit). Next, it remains only to pour seeds or cereals into the bottle and hang it with its neck up on a branch on a tree. Agree, this is actually the original idea of a bird feeder. As the feed is pecked out of the slot, it will fall down and re-fill the bottom of the bottle.
