Quail breeding is a popular household and can be a profitable business for a breeder if he is smart about breeding birds and selling eggs. In quail breeding, an important element of your home farm is the incubator. You can make an incubator with your own hands in several different ways, but it is worth focusing on one of them, the easiest and most accessible to everyone.

Instructions

Step 1

Purchase ordinary 40 W incandescent lamps to heat the incubator. This option is cheap, but if you have the time and funds, you can equip your incubator with water heating. Cover the incubator with 2-3 mm plywood and insulate it with foam.

Step 2

Fasten the incubator body together with small nails or screws. Drill several 1 cm diameter holes in the bottom of the incubator. Install a removable, insulated plywood and foam cover on the incubator. Make a large hole in the lid and cover it with double glass to be able to observe the state of the eggs in the incubator without removing the lid unnecessarily.

Step 3

Just below the cover (10-20 cm), run the electrical wiring with holders for heating lamps from the inside of the incubator. Install four incubator warmers, one at each corner. Install an egg tray made in the form of a frame with a stretched metal mesh 10 cm from the bottom of the incubator on foam supports.

Step 4

Maintain the temperature in the room with the incubator in the range from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. Maintain indoor humidity at 20%.

Step 5

Depending on the number of eggs, you can increase the size of the incubator. Also, if you want to make wall insulation more effective, put together a double-walled plywood incubator.

Step 6

Fill the empty space between the walls with heat-insulating material. Place soft, warm pads around the edges of the lid to keep cold air out of the incubator. Place eggs in the tray for best incubation with the pointed end down.
