It is not in vain that a dog is called a friend of man: these animals can be not only excellent guardians of property, protectors of people, assistants in hunting and other matters, but also wonderful companions who perfectly guess what mood the owner is in and how to behave in order to support a person or comfort him. The fact of the matter is that dogs have an excellent capacity for empathy, i.e. perception of other people's emotions. They even adopt their master's yawn.

It should also be borne in mind that dogs have a wonderful memory for faces. These pets can recognize the owner or other people they know well, even from a photograph or video. By the way, it is for this reason that the owner, who has left for a long time and left one of his friends to look after the dog in his absence, can easily talk with his pet via video chat.

Contrary to popular belief, dogs do not recognize themselves either in the photo or even in the reflection. According to scientists, of all animals, only apes are able to recognize themselves in a mirror.

The elephants' legs seem to be very rough and insensitive, but in fact, they play the role of "sensitive ears." With the help of their feet, elephants can pick up vibrations and ultra-low frequencies coming from the ground. They are able to “hear with their feet” what is happening in the distance. By the way, elephants can't jump.

When a female elephant wants to call her cubs, she begins to pat her ears in a special way on the sides.

Most animals have teeth, and it's hard to surprise anyone. Nevertheless, many interesting facts are connected even with teeth. For example, a snail has about 25,000 of them, moreover, all are located on the tongue. With their help, the snail thoroughly grinds food before swallowing it. It is also widely known that rats can gnaw through products made of hard materials, including brick and cement. Less well known, however, is that these animals do this for more than just getting into buildings. The fact is that the teeth of rats continue to grow throughout their lives, and so that they do not become too long, they have to be constantly grinded.

It is not for nothing that sloths were named that way: most of the time they rest. Moreover, in order to collect the leaves, which form the basis of their diet, these animals stretch their mobile, long neck and turn their heads in different directions, but their body does not move from the place. The reason for the laziness of such animals lies precisely in their menu: the leaves give very little energy, and it takes a sloth on average about a month to digest a hearty meal.

The structure of the animal's body is no less interesting: two-thirds of its weight is the contents of the stomach, and the sloth's bladder is so large that this animal can empty it only once a week and at the same time feel completely comfortable. Such features allow the sloth to spend a minimum amount of energy and just rest most of the time without going down from the tree and enjoying safety and convenience.
