In accordance with breed standards, the ears of a toy terrier should be large and erect. If, for some reason, your pet cannot get them correctly, you will have to glue them.
Instructions
Step 1
Begin to glue the ears of the toy terrier only if they have not risen on their own by the age of 3 months. If your pet is already more than 5, then it is almost useless to glue them, since the backbone is finally formed. Apply and change the bandages (every 3-5 days) until the correct set of the ears is permanent.
Step 2
Clean the inner surface of the ears from any wax and dirt. Prepare an adhesive plaster (no more than 2 cm wide), scotch tape (no more than 1.5 cm wide) and scissors. Look for material for the tire: it should be light and strong (a piece of cardboard or old plastic card).
Step 3
Cut a piece of patch about 4 cm long, rounding off the ends. Place it on the inner side of the ear so that the bottom edge is glued 0.5-1 cm below the fold line. Press the patch to your ear, gently smooth it out with massaging movements.
Step 4
Make a tire. Take a piece of cardboard or an old plastic card and cut a strip about 3-3.5 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. Please note: the length of the splint should be less than the length of the patch already glued into the ear. Be sure to round off the ends of this strip so that they do not chafe or injure the delicate skin.
Step 5
Cut another piece of adhesive tape, smaller than the one that was pasted into the eyelet earlier. Round off the tips. Take a prepared piece of cardboard or card and place it on the middle of the prepared patch (on its adhesive side). When inserting the splint, keep in mind that it should be placed so that it is half a centimeter below the fold line, but not below the already glued plaster, otherwise it will rub thin skin. Press it against the ear and smooth out thoroughly with massaging movements.
Step 6
In order for the ears to stand symmetrically, glue them with tape. Take the tip of the ear and pull it slightly up and to the side towards the puppy's head. Turn the tab (when gluing the left - clockwise, right - counterclockwise), twisting it into a tube. Continue to keep it up and slightly taut as you do this. Wrap a strip of duct tape around the eyelet 2-3 times.
Step 7
Do not roll the tape too tight. However, the tip of the ear should be straight. If he grimaces to the side, start over. Weak ears are recommended to be glued together with tape.
