Many people choose short-haired dogs because they are easier to care for. Indeed, there is no need to comb long hair daily, to make sure that it does not get tangled. Dogs of these breeds are easier to bathe, they have less hair and dirt. But nevertheless, such dogs also require care.

It is necessary

  • - Rubber gloves for combing,
  • - furminator,
  • - shampoo for short-haired dogs,
  • - claw cutter.

Instructions

Step 1

Although the dog is short-haired, this does not mean that there will be no fur from it at all. Still, no one canceled the molt. There are breeds that shed twice a year, and there are those from which the wool is constantly strewn. And hairs, tough as needles, instantly cover carpets and upholstered furniture. The animal must be combed regularly with a rubber glove, which helps to remove dead hairs. During the moulting period, it is more effective to comb the dog with a furminator. There are also various lotions for short-haired dogs that facilitate shedding, strengthen and improve the coat. They will also help reduce shedding. Also, make sure that the animal's diet always contains vegetable oils and vitamins.

Step 2

Bathe your pet periodically. Often this is not necessary to avoid overdrying the dog's skin and coat and causing dandruff. It is enough to bathe your pet every 3 weeks. Choose shampoos specifically for short-haired breeds. You do not need to soap your head and ears to prevent soap and water from getting into your ears when washing off. Just wash gently with water. In winter, you don't need to bathe the dog at all - many doggies love to lie in the snow and thus perfectly clean the coat. In slushy weather, it is better to get a jumpsuit so that the dog does not freeze or get dirty, you just have to wash the tips of its paws.

Step 3

Owners of dogs with folds in the face and body - pugs, bulldogs and many others - should pay special attention to their pets. The fact is that dirt and infection can accumulate in the folds. Therefore, they must be rinsed daily with warm water. After washing, wipe gently, only slightly wetting the skin of the animal. Watch the length of the claws. If they have grown too long, trim them with a special nail clipper.
