Burdock seeds are loved by Linnet (repolov), siskins and goldfinches. Moreover, they all belong to the same genus, so we can say with confidence: the most important lovers of burdock seeds are goldfinches.

And the wild goldfinch loves to feast on the seeds of burdock, and the house bird will be glad if the owners please her with this treat. However, there are some subtleties in handling this gift. Since the goldfinch's diet must include seeds with a high content of oils, this is usually taken into account in quality feed. But those owners who feed the goldfinches with canary food need to independently add sunflower or burdock seeds to it - 4-6 seeds per day.

In the spring, wild goldfinches very quickly peck at the heads of all burdocks in the area, and it is quite difficult to get burdock seeds for your pet feathered pet. Therefore, burdock seeds (or rather the plant heads in which they are stored) are harvested in the fall, although you can have time to stock up on them at the beginning of winter.
Step 3
The collected burdock heads should be stored in a paper bag: it is better not to wrap it in a cloth - it will be difficult to clean it from the burdock.
Step 4
Some owners give home goldfinches whole burdock heads, sometimes they put burdock twigs with several heads on the floor of the cage. This is allowed: poultry usually cope with the treat on their own. Nevertheless, there have been cases when the thorny heads of the burdock stuck together at the bottom of the cage in a large lump, in which the bird can become entangled and injured.

In order not to injure the domestic goldfinch (who, perhaps, did not get the hang of getting seeds from dense burdock cones), many owners still try to thresh seeds from burdock heads on their own. To do this, the heads of the burdock are laid out on a sheet of plywood in a layer 2-3 cm thick. The seeds are threshed with a stick: they are easily separated from the heads and remain on the plywood - so it is convenient to collect them. However, beware of the burdock needles - they can dig into the skin and cause itching.
