Pay attention to the ferret's coat. The puppy at the age of 1, 5 months is covered with gray baby hair. In puppies a little older (2-3 months), the color is usually already shown or is at the stage of manifestation. Compared to adults, ferret puppies are covered with soft hair that is pleasant to the touch. In an adult ferret, the coat is rather coarse. The difference is the same as between the hair of a one year old child and an adult man.

Examine your ferret's teeth. The indigenous ones begin to erupt in him at 1-1, 5 months, until this age the puppies have milk teeth. At the age of three months, the puppy already has full-fledged canines, snow-white and sharp. They remain like this for about a year.
In the period from 1, 5 to 2, 5 years, the tips of the canines become yellowish and translucent.
At 3-4 years old, the transparency of the ferret's canines will become much more pronounced and spread over a larger area of the teeth.
By about 6 years of age, the canines turn yellow completely, and on the lower jaw, you can notice the absence of several small teeth.
The teeth of adults, as a rule, are characterized by tightness.

Observe the ferret's behavior. Young individuals are distinguished by their hyperactivity and playfulness. An adult ferret plays much less often, is less mobile, gets tired quickly, and therefore constantly sleeps. The musculature of an elderly ferret loses its tone, the fur is thinning and noticeably thinner, most often it is the tail that becomes bald. Dental problems arise, and it becomes difficult for the animal to gnaw and chew food.
In the period from 4 to 6 years old, an elderly ferret often develops severe diseases of the adrenal glands, heart, etc. An aged ferret is also susceptible to blindness and deafness.
