There are many legends about the high intelligence of rats and about their friendship with people. And these legends have a foundation. Rats are really smart, enjoy taming and can even learn some circus tricks. It is unlikely that an adult wild rat can be tamed, but it may itself want to make friends with a person. And in order to tame a little rat or a white mouse, you need two things - love and patience.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the cage. The rat house must be equipped in advance. The cage should have a shelter, a feeder and a drinking bowl. For the first moment, this is enough. Choose a special rat cage in the store to make it easy to clean up. Food and water should be already in the cage when you bring your baby.

Step 2

On the first day, do not disturb the rat. Let it get comfortable a little. For now, he will have enough impressions, because he endured the trip, changed his living conditions, felt new smells. All this takes some getting used to. The cage should be in the room where you are most of the time. Rats really do not like loneliness, they definitely need a company, so the rat must understand that this company is you.

Step 3

Give the rat a name. Call him by name every time you approach the cage. The first days try not to bother him too much. Approach the cage when you need to feed or change the water. Talk to your baby gently and calmly. You can sit next to the cage for a while, but don't touch the rat with your hands - it's still early.

Step 4

After a few days, the baby will get used to you. He will stop hiding for cover when you approach, and the hands that carry the food will begin to arouse his genuine interest. Take a moment and start taming your baby. First, try stroking him, affectionately calling him by name. If the baby takes it easy, iron it regularly. If the rat gets worried and rushes for cover, postpone taming for a few more days.

Step 5

In order to teach the rat to climb on the hand, use a treat. Put it not in the cage, but next to it. The kid will certainly get out for tasty things. He can even walk a little on the table, after which you need to put food in the cage so that the rat goes home. The next time you open the cage, place the treat close to you and repeat the procedure. After a few days, you can offer the rat a treat on your outstretched palm. If he is comfortable enough and realizes that you will not harm him, he will climb onto his hand.

Step 6

Play with the little rodent often. Try to follow a certain regime. For example, set aside an hour after work to play with your pet. You will make sure that your little rat is looking forward to this moment, worries if you are late.
