Rhinitis (runny nose) is a specific defense reaction of the human and animal body (for example, a dog) to the invasion of microbes, viruses and other allergens. They irritate the nasal mucosa, causing a runny nose. In dogs, a runny nose can indicate the presence of a variety of diseases.

Instructions

Step 1

In most animals, the nose is the main "indicator" of their well-being. And dogs are no exception here. The temperature and moisture of the nose indirectly indicate certain indicators of the pet's health. The main cause of runny nose in dogs is their sudden transition from a warm place to a cool place during the off-season (for example, spring and autumn). Another common cause of canine rhinitis is the ingestion of some foreign substance into the animal's nose that irritates the nasal mucosa: dust, smoke, pollen, grass particles, etc.

Step 2

To save your pet from an acute cold, you need to catch it in time. There are several ways to treat a common cold in dogs with its subsequent and timely prevention. The pet's nasal cavity should be lubricated several times a day with menthol ointment (1-2%). In addition, a specially prepared "medicine" can be used for this: it is necessary to make a solution of soda (1%) and tannin. Rhinitis in a dog can be cured by applying streptocide tablet powder by simply blowing it into your pet's nose. You just need to do it carefully.

Step 3

If, for some reason, the dog's rhinitis has been started, and dry crusts have already formed on its nose (as a result of constant discharge), do not despair and tear your hair out. First, you need to soften them: for this, you need to treat dry areas on the nose several times a day with hydrogen peroxide (3%), and then clean them. To prevent dry crusts from reoccurring, you should lubricate the dog's near-intestinal space with petroleum jelly.

Step 4

Another time-tested treatment for a dog's runny nose is through the use of onions. It is necessary to squeeze the onion until juice is obtained, then dip a small piece of cotton wool in it. This tampon is inserted into the dog's nostrils for 10-15 minutes. For the result of this treatment to be successful, it is necessary to repeat this unpleasant procedure for the dog several times a day. With strong secretions coming from the dog's nose, it is necessary to fight by washing it with beet broth.

Step 5

In acute canine rhinitis, the following treatment is applied: the animal's nose is instilled with a furacilin solution (0.1%) or a maximidin solution (0.15%). You can lubricate your pet's nasal passages with oxolinic ointment. If in a short time (one week) it was not possible to cure a runny nose in your dog, you need to seek help from a veterinarian. The fact is that this symptom may indicate some serious illness (for example, plague). And it is best to start treating your dog with a trip to the vet!
