If domestic chickens live in a confined space, then you will have to attend to the preparation of a balanced menu for them. It is necessary to feed them 2-3 times a day with dry and wet food. It is better if the chickens have dry grain in constant access in the feeder for free eating, but wet mash should be given in a small amount, which the chickens can eat at one time. If the chickens are laying, their feed should contain enough calcium to form the shell. You can use special mineral additives, or you can add crushed chalk and ordinary bone meal to the feed. A free-walking chicken constantly rummages in the ground, looking for grains of sand, pebbles and other coarse litter that its stomach needs for successful digestion. In spring, chickens, like all living things, experience vitamin deficiency, therefore they need to be fed with vitamins. The easiest way to do this is to soak the barley or wheat and let them germinate. Such food will not only be useful, but the birds will also like it.
