Many poultry farmers prefer to raise broiler chickens at home. Individuals reach maximum growth within fifty days from the moment of birth, are heavy. The meat of such chickens is also used in baby food; many dishes are prepared from it.
Buy ten day old chicks, those that hatched earlier may die. The chicks have bright, shiny eyes. Do not take broilers whose eyelids are sticky, like birds are sluggish, they have a weak appetite.
Set aside space for keeping chickens. Broilers grow best in a closed room, with controlled lighting and a certain temperature regime. Take a box, cage, heating box, etc. Place the birds there.
Find materials with which you will insulate the place of detention, disinfect boxes, boxes. In the first week, the temperature should be 30 degrees Celsius. If the room where the chicks are located is large, use additional fences to limit movement, additional heat sources such as a heater.
Make sure that the desired temperature is reached, remove the limiters and gradually reduce the heating of the room by one or two degrees. Remove the heater on day 21 of broiler housing. Leave lighting only above the feeder and chick nesting area. In the first 16 days of life, birds need round-the-clock lighting, then it must be regulated.
Monitor the temperature constantly. If it falls, the chickens should be placed in a separate cage, box and heated with infrared lamps or heating pads with hot water and sand.
Build a 60 broiler house per square meter. Lower the temperature by 4 degrees, alternate between dark and light every two hours, maintain the temperature with infrared lamps. This will allow the chicks to restrict movement and increase weight gain.
Feed the broilers with chopped eggs, chopped boiled carrots, and fresh herbs. Introduce prefabricated feed into your diet. You can cook your own food, it must include vitamins, minerals, a sufficient amount of carbohydrates and protein. Include cereals, mix them with crushed boiled potatoes. Give broilers cottage cheese, fresh dairy products.
Keep drinking water clean. Purchase several drinkers at the rate of two liters for every 50 chicks. Set aside a 5 cm section of the feeder for each broiler. Place tray feeders at the rate of one per thirty chicks. With crowded contents, close contact with each other is ensured, this is conducive to pecking, there must be enough space. In good weather, you can let the birds go for a walk under your supervision.
From ten days of age, it is necessary to introduce fish, grass flour into the diet. These products are well mixed with compound feed. Feed the chickens periodically with crushed chalk, bone meal, and crushed shells.
Add potassium permanganate or baking soda to your drinking water if you notice diarrhea in birds. Check the litter, cage, crate, or box for cleanliness. Change the water daily and use only clean feeders.
Weigh broilers daily, purchase a scale. A carcass weighing 2-3 kg is considered the norm. Upon reaching the desired value, further feeding is impractical.
