With proper upbringing and care, the ferret will get along well with all household members, while not forgetting to protect the owner's territory from uninvited guests: mice and rats. But how to redeem this small, but predatory animal, though domesticated by man?

Step 1
Buy a special ferret shampoo. Choose from the natural-based shampoo presented in the veterinary store, which will improve the condition of the animal's fur and protect it from the adverse effects of the external environment.
Step 2
Bathe your ferret no more than once a month, so as not to disrupt the regeneration of the natural protective lubricant that regulates the condition of the animal's fur and skin. In some cases (especially with rickets), puppies need to be bathed every day, but only after consulting an experienced veterinarian. Make sure that the temperature of the water in which you are going to bathe the animal is not higher than 37-38 ° C.
Step 3
Decide where you will bathe him: in a basin or in a bath. Some ferrets, curiously exploring the bowels of a bucket of water while you are wet cleaning, can injure you and yourself at the sight of a basin. Other shustriks, whom you decided to "rinse" in the bath, can immediately begin to pretend that they are drowning or violently escape, causing both themselves and the owner unbearable mental and physical suffering. Therefore, prepare your ferret for the first water treatment in his life.
Step 4
If you want to bathe the animal in a basin, “introduce” it to the future place for ablution. Place the ferret in an empty bowl, let it play for a while, then add a little lukewarm water and put its favorite toys in it. Give him a rewarding tidbit.
Step 5
If you plan to arrange water procedures in the bathtub, put the animal there, put toys next to it, then pour some water, adjusting its pressure, so as not to frighten the animal away with noise. Give your puppy a treat. In advance, build an "island" of things or toys in the bathtub so that the animal can rest if it wants to swim after bathing. Pour water into the bath approximately 2-3 times the height of the animal.
Step 6
Prepare a large terrycloth towel or sheet, make sure that the shampoo is always at hand.
Step 7
Moisten the fur of the ferret with water and then gently apply the shampoo. If the animal behaves calmly, massage its legs, tail, back, chest, tummy. Rinse off the shampoo gently, making sure that soapy water does not get into the eyes, ears and mouth of the animal. Do not prolong bathing, regardless of whether you are holding the ferret, or it rests with its hind legs against the bottom of the tub or basin. You may not get tired of holding it, but the ferret may get tired of gripping, albeit caring, but strong hands. But if he suddenly wants to swim, let him.
Step 8
Dry your ferret well after bathing. Place the animal in its "house" (box or cage), after putting a few dry towels there.
