Nobody likes to come to an empty house. As the famous postman Pechkin used to say: "You get an animal, you come home, and it rejoices at you!" Many people sooner or later come to the idea that they want to have a kitten or a puppy, buy a purebred or take a street one with huge compassionate eyes. And here the problem of domestication arises.

Instructions

Step 1

Taming little kittens and puppies.

It is most favorable for taming and education to take a small kitten or puppy. Their main socialization period is 5-7 weeks. At this time, animals are already opening their eyes and begin to actively explore the world around them. This includes looking for and accepting the person who will take care of him, whom he can trust. If you want the kitten or puppy to happily walk into your arms afterwards, not get nervous at the sight of other people and not break out of your embrace, gently take it in your arms, caress and stroke it for at least an hour a day. Do not cause pain and discomfort to your pet, it can cause irreparable harm to the psyche. Play with him more. Despite the assurances of distributors of pet products, paper bows on a string for kittens and sticks for puppies are becoming the most favorite toys. The main thing is that loving people play with them. Animals feel related to them. Get used to hygiene, routines and commands gradually, it is better to be patient than to lose the trust of the animal once and for all. Scold your pet only for the cause, no later than half an hour after the incident - otherwise it will not understand what you are punishing him for.

Step 2

Domestication of adult animals.

It often happens that an animal finds itself without owners - the previous owner died or moved, did not cope with its care responsibilities, did not want to be responsible, or the animal fled out of curiosity to get to know the outside world, or it was born and raised on the street. You either purposefully take an adult dog or cat from a shelter, or you see eyes that you can no longer walk past, and now a new family member appears in your house. It is much more difficult to tame an adult cat or dog than a kitten or a puppy, especially if it has had a negative experience of communication with a person, but street “bribes” can be much more loyal and more grateful for a saved life than animals of elite breeds. First of all, plan a trip to the veterinarian, carefully examine the animal, get a specialist opinion on its health. Be prepared that most likely the street animal will have to be treated - worms, fleas, ear mites and dysbiosis are just the tip of the iceberg. If you are not ready for such financial and moral costs, it is better to refuse a street animal. After bringing the animal home, feed it not dense, but hearty food. It can be strong broth, cottage cheese or porridge. Replace your hand after feeding. Perhaps, in the first weeks, the animal will recoil or even hide from attempts to pet it, but over time, when it realizes that you do not want to hurt it, the pet will certainly reach out to you. You should not impose with affection, fearfulness and alertness should be eradicated gradually, convey your tenderness in a tone of voice. Of course, games can help quick socialization and adaptation, no matter how mentally traumatized the animal is, interest in the game can always be kindled in it. Do not scold the animal for street habits - damage to things, looking for leftover food in the garbage can, relieving need in the wrong place. Remember, the animal was not sweet, show patience and prudence - hide things that may be spoiled, close the trash can more tightly, use special sprays and aerosols for toilet training.

We wish you good relations with your animal, because communication with a small grateful fluffy lump is incomparable with anything!
