Step 1
To effectively remove cat odor, it is necessary to clean carpets and other items that the cat has chosen to leave marks.
Determine the locations and sizes of the marks. An ultraviolet lamp will help determine the true size of the lesion. It needs to illuminate all floors, carpets, mattresses, furniture and doors. Having found places, outline the area for processing, capturing an additional several centimeters more around the entire perimeter. Soak the object or area in the vinegar solution.
Step 2
Blot the fresh stain with soft toilet paper or tissue, gently absorbing moisture. Do not wash with water, this will only increase the spread of the stain. You can use cat litter granules - they are excellent at absorbing and absorbing odor. Dilute the vinegar with water (1: 3) and pour over the stain. Leave the treated area to dry completely, you can cover it with paper.
Step 3
Treat the area with baking soda. Sprinkle dry powder over the dried stain. Make sure the vinegar is completely dry, otherwise it will neutralize the effect of the baking soda.
Step 4
Add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. Mix half a glass of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a drop of dishwashing detergent, dilute the mixture with water (100 ml) and gently spray on the stain with baking soda. Use a sprayer to spray more conveniently and evenly. Leave the resulting foam for a few hours. Vacuum the area.
Step 5
Clean the carpet with a washing vacuum cleaner or regular surface cleaner, the marked item can be washed in the washing machine. Add some apple cider vinegar to the washing powder. Usually, attempts to remove cat odor in this way have been successful due to the fact that substances enter into a chemical reaction, decomposing urine at the molecular level.
