It is necessary

  • Shampoo for dogs
  • Soft and hard brush

Instructions

Step 1

Wash your dachshund no more than once every 3-4 months. Of course, if there is mud and slush outside, bathe your dog as much as necessary. Before bathing, place a small amount of cotton wool in both ears of the dachshund to prevent water from getting into them while washing the wool.

Step 2

Place the dog in the tub and wet it completely with the shower water. Apply a little shampoo first to your palm, then, lightly lathering with your hands, onto the dachshund's coat.

Step 3

If there is heavy dirt, you can use a special rubber brush for washing animals. Rinse the dog thoroughly, removing all foam from its coat.

Step 4

Blow lightly into the dog's ear, it will dust itself off. It happens instinctively and it is better to carry out such a procedure when the dachshund is still in the bathroom. Dry the animal gently with a towel.

Step 5

If the dachshund's coat is long and hard, you need to brush it regularly with a special brush, and for dogs with smooth hair, it is enough to wipe it with a velvet cloth or a hard terry towel.

Step 6

Coming from a walk, wipe the dog's paws with a cloth slightly soaked in water or rinse it under a warm shower. For washing, you need to use a special shampoo designed strictly for dachshunds. The dog should not be washed often, but only if it is visibly dirty. It is not advisable to wash four to five month old puppies at all.

Step 7

Clearing a dachshund's eyes is also easy. The mucus that has accumulated overnight in the morning must be removed with a cotton swab dipped in weak tea. The same is done with the formation of crusts in the corners of the dog's eyes. With frequent and heavy discharge, you need to consult an appropriate specialist.

Step 8

Dachshund ears should be examined every day. The accumulated sulfur is removed using cotton wool soaked in hydrogen peroxide or boric alcohol, and wound on a match. In addition, special drops are available for cleaning the ears.
