Feeding puppies VEO

When buying an East European Shepherd puppy, ask the breeder what the little ones eat, and feed the same for the first time. Then gradually transfer it to your diet. Such a measure will avoid regurgitation and other problems.

The frequency of feeding depends on the age of the shepherd puppy:

  • up to 2 months - 6 times / day;
  • from 2 to 4 months - 5 p.;
  • from 4 to 6 masses. - 4 p.;
  • at 6-9 months - 3 rubles / day.

Transfer your pet to 2 meals a day when he is 10 months old. During the growth period, it is important to provide the shepherd with protein in order to increase muscle mass, so the diet should consist of 50% animal feed. These include:

  • meat (veal, beef, lamb, chicken);
  • offal (liver, scar, heart, lungs, kidneys);
  • lean sea fish.

When choosing meat, it is better to buy pieces with cartilage, ligaments, tendons. Give fish, boiled egg 2 rubles / week.

Feed your shepherd puppy cottage cheese and other fermented milk products. To replenish energy, carbohydrates are needed, they are contained in cereals (buckwheat, rice, rolled oats). Porridge can be cooked in meat broth.

To normalize the digestive tract, include vegetables (cabbage, beets, carrots) and herbs in the diet. Soups with vegetables and the addition of sour cream or meat will be very useful for a VEO puppy. Carrots can be given raw, first grated and seasoned with sour cream or butter. For the development of the puppy, vitamin and mineral supplements are required, which are selected by the veterinarian.

Feeding adults

The composition of the diet of an adult shepherd dog is almost the same as that of a puppy. These are meat, boiled cereals, sea fish, offal and 1 boiled egg per week. From vegetables, you can also give pumpkin, zucchini. From greens, feed parsley, lettuce, chopped wood lice. Give meat every day, its amount should be at least 30% of the total feed.

If the shepherd is large, you should not overfeed it, otherwise the risk of obesity increases. For such a pet, increase the amount of protein, vitamins and decrease the carbohydrate content in the diet. Pay attention to the dog's pasterns. If they have weakened, it is necessary to reduce the calorie intake and include calcium supplements.

The East European Shepherd can be fed ready-made industrial rations. For puppies, adult dogs of this breed, there are super premium dry food (Orijen, Acana) and premium dry food (Purina ProPlan, Royal Canin, Eukanuba) on sale. There are rations specially designed for shepherd dogs (Royal Canin, Eukanuba food lines). The pet should have fresh water freely available.

Puppies, adult shepherd dogs are prohibited:

  • salty,
  • smoked,
  • roast,
  • fatty,
  • potatoes,
  • pork,
  • River fish,
  • raw liver
  • fresh bread,
  • tubular bones.

Milk is contraindicated in adult dogs. There are limitations associated with the features of digestion in BEO. You can not feed large pieces of meat, offal and give a lot of empty porridge. Such feeding will shorten the life span of the animal, since it negatively affects the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas.
