Today, the Yorkshire Terrier is one of the most common and quite expensive decorative dog breeds. The character of a Yorkie is very difficult, and sometimes this small, fragile creature with delicate fur can behave quite unpredictably and aggressively.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a relatively young breed of dog that appeared in England in the middle of the 19th century. Now, looking at the little Yorkie, it is very difficult to believe that a century and a half ago this dog fearlessly destroyed rats on the streets of British cities.

Character traits

Each Yorkshire Terrier can have its own character and a purely individual attitude towards owners, strangers and other animals. Most males of this breed at puppyhood are quite pugnacious, extremely active, moreover, they have a quality that is quite rare for decorative dogs - they jealously defend their territory from any external invasion.

Representatives of the opposite sex, on the contrary, are very gentle, literally from the first days they are firmly attached to the new owner and constantly seek protection from him from anyone. Sometimes in the behavior of dogs of the Yorkshire Terrier breed there are some kind of anomalies - a girl can violently rush at everyone she meets, and a boy can hide under a sofa at the slightest danger.

Regardless of character traits, experts recommend bringing up Yorkies in the same way. This breed is very smart and all the faults in behavior that occurred in puppyhood can be completely corrected over time.

Features of behavior

The most common problem faced by Yorkshire Terrier owners is the habit of constantly marking its territory.

Based on this, dog handlers recommend training the dog to the "place" from an early age. This recommendation is especially relevant for the owners of those dogs who are rarely on the street and are used to doing all their "business" on a special tray. If you treat this problem carelessly, unpleasant "gifts" in the form of puddles or heaps can appear in various places in an apartment or house.

Another behavioral problem is usually faced by owners of York boys. The fact is that males behave very inadequately if a girl, ready for mating, suddenly appears somewhere in the neighborhood. Very often, dogs literally lose their heads and run away from the owner.

However, during estrus, girls can also cause a lot of trouble, since in this state they become very aggressive, nervous, constantly looking for a partner. In order to avoid an unexpected pregnancy, a girl should wear a special suit during a walk during estrus.
