Cat shows are held strictly according to the rules of the world felinological organization. This event is not considered international if fewer than one hundred cats participate. At such an exhibition it is impossible to get a title higher than a "candidate for champion". Show cats can be divided into several distinct types.
The purpose of the advertising shows is to showcase a new breed of cat, a breeding cattery or a club dedicated to the breed. Such an event is more like a show.
Evaluation shows showcase one or more cat breeds. The main objective of this event is to identify shortcomings in animals and determine their possible participation in the further breeding of the breed. All cats undergo a rigorous examination in which their compliance with the standard is established. After a certain procedure, the animals are compared with each other.
All appraisal exhibitions are also divided into several types. No titles are awarded at the event within the club, and the examination is carried out by the club judge. The purpose of such an exhibition is to identify cats that fully comply with the breed standard.
National shows are limited to a small number of cats (less than one hundred), animals cannot get a title higher than CAC (candidate for champion).
The international exhibition is a larger-scale event, in which more than a hundred cats participate. The examination is carried out by judges of the international category, absolutely all titles that are available can be awarded.
The exhibition usually lasts two days. On the first day, each cat is assessed separately. The second day is devoted to comparing the best animals according to the results of the examination. Such events are usually held in the spring or fall, when the pet's coat is in the best condition.
Not all cats are admitted to the show, the animal must be rated "very good" or "excellent" during the preliminary examination. Pets with fleas and dirty ears are eliminated. The cat should not have sharpened nails and dyed hair.
