The habitat of a hamster in your house can be equipped independently without buying expensive paraphernalia. Since animals are restricted in movement in a cage, this deficiency should be compensated for by labyrinths. But such toys should not be left in the cage for a long time, since plastic is mainly used as a material for their manufacture, which pets prefer to chew.

Factory-made labyrinths are able to withstand the onslaught of hamsters, but if you make them yourself from plastic bottles, then the craft can become an object of interest for the animal not only as entertainment, but also as a basis for sharpening teeth. Thin plastic elements can enter the pet's stomach, harming its health, and the bottle can also develop dangerous sharp edges. That is why the maze should be given to the hamster when he is under supervision.

Preparation of tools and materials

For work, you will need: plastic bottles, electrical tape, a stationery knife and scissors.

Maze manufacturing technology

Before starting work, bottles should be rinsed and dried, and their surface must be removed from labels. The simplest version of the product contains 4 bottles, from each of which the bottom and the neck should be cut off using a clerical knife.

Using electrical tape, it is necessary to protect the edges of the workpieces by gluing them along the contour. In order for the insulation to lie flat, it must first be glued ½ of the width, the remaining edge of the tape must be cut into transverse strips, which must be bent to the other side of the bottle.

Now you can form a T-joint from the two bottles. To do this, you need to make a round hole in one of them. Using a clerical knife, you need to make a cross-shaped cut in the center of the workpiece, bending the edges of the material, this will allow you to insert scissors into the hole and cut out a circle, the diameter of which should be equal to the diameter of the second bottle. These holes will also have to be pasted over with electrical tape.

The end of the second bottle, which is supposed to be attached to the first, should be made arched; for more comfortable work with scissors, the edge of the bottle should be squeezed, making it flat. You can connect the two pipes together with electrical tape wrapped around the bottles, all the cracks can also be filled with it. Now you can start making the two remaining blanks-pipes from bottles, for this you have to repeat all the above steps, arranging the elements of the labyrinth in the desired combination.

One of the parts of the labyrinth can be made vertical, the hamster will not run into it, the purpose of the element is to fill the feed into the tunnel. To do this, one of the bottles should not be removed from the bottom, this element will be made in the form of a horizontal dead end. A round hole should be made in its upper part by inserting the neck of the bottle into it, which will act as a funnel into which it is convenient to pour food.
