The aquarium equipment allows maintaining climatic conditions in it favorable for its inhabitants. Also, aquariums are equipped with lighting devices and filters for water purification.

Instructions

Step 1

Only the smallest spherical tabletop aquarium can be equipped with nothing. Just put fish in it, feed them periodically and change the water. Oxygen will dissolve in it due to natural diffusion.

Step 2

Larger aquariums (about 30 liters in volume) must be equipped with microcompressors. They are of two types: with a rotating impeller and vibrating. The first ones are more reliable, but the second ones are more maintainable, and therefore they serve even longer for the owner who knows how to repair them. Be sure to read the instructions for the compressor if it can be kept on around the clock, or if it requires periodic shutdown.

Step 3

If you just dip the hose from the microcompressor into the water, you get a few large bubbles that rise at high speed. This is not only ugly: they reach the boundary between water and air so quickly that oxygen diffusion hardly has time to occur. In addition, such bubbles can disturb and even injure fish. To avoid this, use hose nozzles. They force compressed air to pass through multiple pores. From this, the bubbles become larger, but they themselves significantly decrease in size and rise relatively slowly. Most often, such attachments are disguised as stones lying at the bottom of the aquarium.

Step 4

There are fish that feel comfortable at higher water temperatures than indoor ones. They will have to equip the aquarium with a heater. Choose its power (25 or 50 W) depending on the volume of the vessel. It is best to use an appliance that maintains the rated temperature while always on. Heaters working in conjunction with the regulator have a power reserve. If the machine breaks down, the water will be overheated, which threatens its inhabitants with death. In any case, the heater should be stopped immediately if its tightness is broken.

Step 5

It is advisable to equip a fairly large aquarium (with a volume of about 50 liters) with a filter. This device constantly pumps water through the filter element using a small pump. But keep in mind that you will still have to change the water, although much less often. In addition, as it gets dirty, it will be necessary to replace the filter element itself.

Step 6

Aquarium lighting is necessary not only for observers, but also for its inhabitants. Some of them have enough visible light, while others require a little ultraviolet light. In the second case, only use UV lamps that are specifically designed for use in the aquarium. Any others are dangerous for both people and fish. No lamps should be immersed in water, even just a bulb - if it breaks, the water can reach the electrodes. It is best to use fully sealed or low voltage luminaires.

Step 7

The accessories increase the comfort of handling the aquarium. First of all, it includes an extension cord, in which each outlet has a separate switch. It allows separate control of compressors, heaters, filters and lamps without pulling out their plugs. It is important that all switches in such an extension cord are double-pole. And to know if the temperature is too high (or low), install a thermometer on a suction cup on the inside of one of the side walls of the aquarium. They should in no way be mercury.
