The diamond python is mainly found in Papua New Guinea and Australia. It does not exceed 1.7-3 meters in size. The color of the python is quite pleasant, based on a combination of light yellow and dark blue diamonds (diamond diamonds).

The diamond python prefers to settle near water bodies so that there are trees nearby. Basically, he is active only at night. Females differ from males in their large body size and short tail.

The diamond python feeds on small rodents, eggs, bats, birds, less often rabbits, frogs, lizards. A slow metabolism allows the animal to go without food for a very long time. In nature, these pythons live for 12-15 years. Some individuals in captivity lived up to 20 years.

The sexual period in python begins in December, it lasts in January and February. The wet area serves as a meeting place for the female and the male. After 85 days, the female lays from 12 to 22 eggs (sometimes up to 54 eggs).

The female wraps around the clutch of eggs with her body, heats it for about 57 days (sometimes up to 72 days). These days, the female diamond python does not eat anything. After 1-2 days, small hatched pythons break away from the mother, starting to lead an independent lifestyle.

Local aborigines often breed diamond pythons. These are not bad "cats" for them. After all, where the diamond python settled, mice and rats immediately disappear.
