Cat breeds never cease to amaze and delight with their diversity. A very sophisticated choice: this is a Scottish Fold - Scottish Fold kitten. Cats of this breed are distinguished by an unusual appearance: the lowered ears give the cat's face a touching and expressive look. What needs to be considered when choosing a kitten of this breed for yourself?
The older the Scottish kitten is, the more chances you have to appreciate it, especially if you are choosing a future producer. At the age of 1-2, 5 months - all kittens are touching and adorable, and it is extremely difficult to assess their advantages and disadvantages. But a feline adolescent at the age of 3 months can already be a worthy object for study. After 3 months, kittens lose their infant charm, stretch out, and possible imperfections become especially noticeable.
The ideal Scottish kitten should have a thick, cheeky face with wide-set eyes. As for the physique, the fold-eared "Scotsman" is distinguished by a wide chest, strong legs, a thick and not too long tail. The coat of Scottish Folds is dense and short. And, of course, such a kitten should have small lowered ears. Remember that the ears of a kitten can rise over time, but in no case can they go down.
Check for a hump on the Scottish Fold spout. It is difficult to determine visually - at a young age, a nose with a future hump just looks shorter. But you can check it by sliding your finger along the kitten's nose from the forehead to the lobe. If no hump is foreseen, you will experience a completely smooth surface. Feel the ponytail to check for knots and kinks. Pay attention to the teeth: the correct bite should be scissor.
However, if you want to take a kitten as an ordinary pet and do not plan to participate in exhibitions, you can take any baby you like at the age of about 2 months.
Do not forget about the signs that distinguish a healthy kitten too. It is a clean, dense, thick and shiny coat, clear eyes without discharge. Do not hesitate to look into the ears and under the tail of the kitten, check for inflammation of the mucous membranes, pollution. Pay attention also to the baby's tummy: it should be soft, even if the kitten has recently eaten. A tight and tight abdomen can be a sign of helminthic infestation. A healthy kitten is active and playful, reacts with curiosity to everything that happens around.
