If this is the first time you brought a small fluffy meowing lump into your house, then you naturally have a dilemma of how to train a kitten to the litter box. Cats are fairly clean, and therefore learn to go to the private toilet quickly enough with the right approach.
Delay in litter training can cost you dearly, and therefore, at the same time as the fluffy, there should be a place for the toilet in the house. In addition to the litter box, you will need cat litter and a spatula to clean it.
Place the tray in the desired location, add some filler. When you see that the kitten is worried, began to sniff different nooks and crannies, take him to the toilet, put him in the tray, explain in an affectionate voice that he should do his business there.
Monitor the cat's behavior carefully for about a week. Try to take your baby to the litter box after sleeping and eating, as this is the time when animals defecate.
When the kitten is done in the litter box, be sure to pet and praise him.
If the first time he does not succeed, and you find traces of a crime in the wrong place, carefully collect everything and take it to the tray, show the kitten what and where it should be. Wash the stool well and sprinkle it with perfume, vinegar or lemon juice, as the pungent smell will prevent the cat from going to the toilet in this place again. In no case, do not offend the baby and do not poke his nose into the stool, otherwise he may be offended.
To train your kitten to the litter box, do not forget to leave the door in the room where he will go to the toilet open.
Change the contents of the tray in time, otherwise the animal can do its business nearby.
If the kitten doesn't want to go to its toilet at all, show it to the vet. He may have problems urinating. You can also try changing the tray itself or the litter, not every kitten likes what you have chosen for him.
If the kitten defecates in a specific place, put the tray there, and then gradually move it to the desired place.
