Taking care of them is not so difficult, and you can get a lot of positive emotions from observing the animals and communicating with them. When a hamster is alone, it doesn't matter what gender it is. But if you decide to start breeding Dzungariks, then when buying a pair, you must correctly determine whether it is a male or a female.

Step 1
It is easiest to determine the sex of an adult. But usually you want to buy a young hamster. In this case, everything is more complicated. Immediately after birth, it is impossible to distinguish a boy hamster from a girl hamster. Any obvious signs of sex appear in Dzhungariks after a month. It is at this age and later that they can be taken away from the mother. Examining such a very young cub, be careful. Take it by the scruff of the neck or place it on the palm of your hand, belly up. Hold the head and the upper part of the body with your fingers, let the animal's back hang freely from the hand.
Step 2
Take a close look at the genitals of the jungarik. You will have to compare multiple individuals to see the difference. In the male, the anus and genitals are located farther from each other than in the female (approximately 0.7-1 cm from each other). Moreover, they differ little from each other and look like tiny bumps. Sometimes, even at this age, you can find a small sac near the genitals - this is the scrotum. But in cubs it is not always noticeable.
Step 3
Touch the baby's tummy - in the center of the males there is a seminal gland, which feels like a navel. The belly of females is smooth, but on both sides there are nipples, they can be seen by moving the fur apart. Another sign is thick wool around the genitals of Dzungarian boys. Females do not possess such noticeable vegetation in this zone.
Step 4
There are also indirect signs by which one can understand which of the Dzungarian hamsters is a male and who is a female. Oddly enough, the latter are much more aggressive towards humans and restless. In addition, girls are usually larger and fatter, and boys smell stronger. In addition, sitting in the same cage, male dzungariki fight among themselves, and females live peacefully with each other.
