Keeping an aquarium is a laborious process, especially for a novice breeder. The basis of health for fish and plants in an aquarium is quality water. It should be transparent, colorless and odorless, which is achieved as a result of special preparation of the liquid.

Instructions

Step 1

The most important thing that a novice aquarist should know is that fish should not be put into an aquarium with untreated tap water. This can lead to the death of living organisms. In order for fish and plants to take root, prepare the water in advance, make it transparent. Pour tap water into a new clean aquarium and let it sit for 2-3 days. Once the water has lost its chlorine odor, it has settled sufficiently. You can lay the ground and plant plants.

Step 2

After laying the soil, the water can again lose transparency, becoming blue at first, and then cloudy. These are soil particles, stems and roots of plants that pollute the water. Therefore, it is not yet possible to plant fish there. In about an hour and a half, the soil will settle, and fish can be planted in the aquarium. If you still have doubts about the quality of the water, add a special water preparation agent (for example, "Aquasef"). This mixture will make the water completely suitable for fish habitat and protect it from the development of pathogenic flora.

Step 3

After the fish and plants have settled in the aquarium, the water will have a bluish tint for another 3-4 months. And only after a certain time, when all living organisms have taken root completely, the water will regain colorlessness and transparency. This means that the water has reached its most optimal stage, which is called "old" by experienced aquarists. Both animals and plants feel comfortable in such water. Fish do not get sick and actively reproduce, and the plants have a bright, rich color. Determining that the water has reached this stage is easy. In a dark room, illuminate the front of the aquarium with a table lamp. If the water is not visible, the fish seem to be floating in the air, then you have achieved the ideal state of the water.

Step 4

If your aquarium is equipped with modern water purification and filtration systems, then you often do not need to change it. Refresh the water only if the water becomes cloudy, there are many particles of algae and fish waste products floating in the water. Then part of the water is poured and the corresponding volume of settled or prepared tap water is added. The more often the water in the aquarium changes, the less volume needs to be drained.

Step 5

If there is no purification system, in order to make the water clear, you will have to change it from time to time. No more than 1/4 of the water should be poured from the aquarium, replacing it with settled tap water. This should be done no more often than once every 2-3 weeks. It is very difficult for fish to experience fluid changes, so it is better to purchase a filtration system. And do not forget to clean the walls of the aquarium from plaque. It is he who can become the main reason for the turbidity of the water.
