Step 1
Equip the syringe. While holding the needle up, remove any air bubbles. Try to prevent the cat from seeing your preparations. Ideally, at this moment he is full and sleepy.
Step 2
Place the cat on the table with its paws facing you. In the prone position, the muscles are more relaxed, so it will be easier for the animal to endure the injection, and the medicine will be absorbed faster.
Step 3
Ask an assistant to securely fix the animal by the front and hind legs and, if possible, by the scruff. If the cat manages to twitch at the time of the intramuscular injection, the needle may bend or even break.
Step 4
Slide your hand under the thigh of the hind leg, approximately halfway between the knee and hip joint, spread the fur and feel for the muscle (it will roll under your toes).
Step 5
Insert the needle into the muscle perpendicular to the thigh to a depth of about one and a half centimeters, inject the drug and quickly withdraw the needle. It is advisable to massage the injection site.
